Casio Women\'s LA2001-5ADF Digital Orange Square Case Resin Strap Watch
Product Description:
With the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market. In developing its own wristwatches Casio began with the basic question, "What is a wristwatch?" Rather than simply making a digital version of the conventional mechanical watch, we thought that the ideal wristwatch should be something that shows all facets of time in a consistent way. Based on this, Casio was able to create a watch that displayed the precise time including the second, minute, hour, day, and month - not to mention a.m. or p.m., and the day of the week. It was the first watch in the world with a digital automatic calendar function that eliminated the need to reset the calendar due the variation in month length. Rather than using a conventional watch face and hands, a digital liquid crystal display was adopted to better show all the information. This culminated in the 1974 launch of the CASIOTRON, the world's first digital watch with automatic calendar. The CASIOTRON won acclaim as a groundbreaking product that represented a complete departure from the conventional wristwatch.

unusual looking, but not without drawbacks
I bought this watch mostly because I liked the color (i have the neon green one) thinking it was fun, cheerful...
On the plus side it is a pretty substantial watch, does not feel like my old casio from back when (and many of their current line still do). However, it takes forever to program and is very hard to read. I may well return it and buy the analog watch I cancelled when I found this. I suspect that one takes a minute to set and forget, and less time to read.
there are watches out there (tokyo flash e.g.) which are meant to present a challenge, a bit of mental exercise. This is not one of them. (and setting it up was irritating rather than entertaining).
If I got paid for the time I spent setting this watch up I could have bough5t a rolex.

Great time piece
I simply love this watch. I was quite pleasantly surprised at the quality. The resin strap feels secure and has a nice feel to it. The stainless steel parts feel very well done and polished. Overall it is easy to tell this is a sturdy and well made watch. I have received tons of compliments on this watch and I like it more everyday. Yes the display is dim which confuses me to no end...why would Casio do that to all their digital watches? But overall, it is worth it.

Overall, it's a fun watch with good functions
Pros: Funky! Has the functions I wanted (countdown timer, stopwatch, nightlight and one alarm). Easy to operate.

Cons: Hard to read due to low contrast between the numbers and the background. It is actually easier to read at night when you use the nightlight. I don't like the world time function, I wish I could disable it. Sorry, but I don't care what time it is in other countries. If you have a distant loved one, this would be nice for you.

Overall: The fun style and color is worth it to me. I'm so sick of the color options for women's watches (black, pink, baby blue and white) so this is a nice change. (they have some other nice colors in this style that I have my eye on...)
